Frequently asked questions

Can you modernize a legacy utility system without taking it down?
Yes. Utility systems rarely get a maintenance window, so we modernize in stages. We read the existing code first, stabilize anything actively failing, then replace the riskiest pieces one workflow at a time while the old system keeps running beside the new one. Data moves with validation that proves the numbers match, and each cutover happens once the replacement has earned it. Anyone proposing a big-bang replacement for a system people depend on daily should have to explain why.
How do you handle regulatory reporting and compliance records for a utility?
By building the records into the daily workflow so the report already exists when the deadline arrives. Inspections, maintenance history, incident logs, and audit trails get captured as work happens, structured so regulatory reporting is a query rather than a project. Your compliance team defines what each regulator requires. We build the system that produces the evidence the same way every time. A vendor who quotes before asking which regulators you answer to is quoting a retrofit.
Do you work with SCADA and monitoring systems?
We build around them, not inside them. Monitoring platforms and SCADA feeds already produce the data; we ingest it, turn it into dashboards, alerts, and reporting that operators and stakeholders actually read, and connect it to work orders and asset records. The control layer stays with the engineers and vendors who own it. That line exists for safety reasons, and we keep to it.
Can you build software for utility crews working without cell coverage?
Yes. Infrastructure work happens where the network doesn't reach yet, so our crew apps work offline by default. Work orders, inspections, and safety records get completed on site with photos attached, then sync when the truck is back in coverage. The office sees the job as it actually is instead of reconstructing it from paper. Before you pick any field tool, try it in airplane mode. If it stalls, your crews will stop using it within a month.
